Wednesday, March 10th 2021 is the opening date of the 2021 Leaving Cert Portal for students. This portal allows you to register for accredited grades, for sitting exams, or for both. Below we answer some common questions about the portal.
When does it open and close?
The self-service portal opens on Wednesday, March 10th at 12 p.m. GMT. It will remain open for 7 days until 6 p.m. on Tuesday, the 16th of March. While the portal is then closed, it will reopen at the end of April/Early May when you will be required to confirm your choices, at which point you can alter your choices if you need to.
How do I access it?
Once opened, you can access the portal via www.gov.ie/LeavingCertificate by clicking Leaving Certificate Candidate Self Service Portal (CSSP) 2021.
More details on how to register & use the portal is available in this booklet from the Department of Education.
What do I need to use it?
- Your examination number
- Your PIN (first 4 digits of your PPS number)
- An email address that you will have access to for the next few months (the gov.ie website recommends not using a Yahoo or Ymail address)
- Your mobile phone number
Where can I find more details?
All the info you need and more detailed FAQs are available on www.gov.ie/LeavingCertificate.
Should I go for accredited grades or sit the exam?
This is a very personal decision that you'll have to consider for yourself. One of our latest podcast episodes talks about the upcoming LC, how accredited grades work, and how to approach the decisions, so giving that a listen might help with those choices!
Good luck ๐
