    Hot climate AJRH

    can someone give me some good notes on hot climate thanks

      Temp - between 30 - 50 C

      Sun is always high in the sky

      Cloudless skies

      Night time temp are as low as 5C

      Rainfall - annual total can be less than 100 mm

      Hot deserts are in the path of trade winds

      There is very little vegetation

      Plants - case study

      Needles offer protection

      Thick waxy bark prevents moisture loss

      Juicy flesh stores water

      Animals - camel

      Stores fat in hump

      Long eyelashes and nostrils that close and open giving protection during sandstorms

      Wide hooves to walk on dry sand

      Thick lips which enable the camel to eat prickly plants

      Nights are cold bcus there is no clouds

      SAHEL CLIMATE CHANGE

      1- rainfall in the region is unreliable

      2- higher temperature's lead to increase evaporation

      3- droughts have occurred

      4- rivers and water holed have dried up

      SOLUTIONS TO DESERTIFICATION

      1- slow down soil erosion by planting more trees

      2- bind the soil particles by planting more grasses

      3- dig deeper wells to find water for irrigation

      4- introduce new breeds of animals
