    do plants use oxygen Sarah2014

    do plants use oxygen or do they just make it and then release it out into the air.

    do plants need carbon dioxide

      they make oxygen using carbon dioxide :)

      so they need oxygen but release it ?? @sryan97

      plants need oxygen for respiration so some of the oxygen produced in photosynthesis is used for that, while the rest is excreted through the stomata.

      and carbon dioxide is used to make glucose, with oxygen as the byproduct.

      so

      c02 + water ----> (using chlorophyll and light) glucose + oxygen

      or

      6CO2 + 6H2O ----> 6CO2 + C6H12O6 (formula of glucose)

      thank you so much @liamcro97

      so oxygen is breathed in and some of it is used for photosynthesis and the rest is released back into the air??

      no CARBON DIOXIDE is breathed in, photosynthesis occurs, oxygen is PRODUCED and used in respiration with some being released into the air haha :P
