what predictions are for leaving cert biology ordinary level Michelle.des18

Hi does know the predictions for the ordinary level biology

Every year 2 exams are set and 1 is chosen at random. Prediction is quaint, but pointless. I predict either photosynthesis or respiration, an ecology question, probably some genetics, one or two human systems and some plant biology. Am I accurate?????

What about bacteria fungi viruses and amoeba etc

What do you think about experiments that would come up?

      PREDICTION IS POINTLESS

For the nitrogen cycle which is better the simple one my teacher did or the one that's in the book.

Simpler the better! Get the following words in: nitrate absorb protein eat excrete urea decay bacteria. Most marks will be there!

      know insect/wind pollination

know difference between pollination and dispersal

      Then:

      Zygote be comes embryo

      Ovule becomes seed

      Ovary becomes fruit

Think of a whole Halloween 'monkey nut' in shell. The shell comes from the ovary, the peanuts (the seed) come from the ovules and inside each peanut the embryo (the little bit at the bottom when you split a whole peanut in half) comes from the zygote.

The zygote itself comes from the fusion of the male and female gamete.

The male gamete developed out of the pollen grain.

Are definitions important to know or can you use your own words instead of knowing them word by word?

    13. avatar image

      Marie Chantelle

You have to use the exact definitions that's what my biology teacher said :) i'm doing biology ordinary level myself this year for the lc and I just seen your comment and i'd said that i'd let you know if you're still wondering :) Hope it helps :)

definitions: specific words/wording is NOT required AS LONG AS THE MEANING IS CLEAR AND ACCURATE!!!

Predator: An animal which eays other organisms - NO AS COWS EAT GRASS

Predator: An animal which eats other animals - NO AS MAGPIES EAT DEAD RABBITS

Predator: An animal which hunts and kills other animals for food - THAT'S IT!!!!!

Get the idea? MEANINGS MUST BE PRECISE AND CLEAR.

Ok ab and ntal, what have I said which you don't agree with?

Don't be telling people the simpler the better. If u want that A1 then get down and learn the necessary info.clown

    18. avatar image

      bridgetown1

Simpler information is easier to remember. The points I gave in the N cycle, if used correctly, weresufficient toget full marks the last time it was asked.

      bridgetown1

And you are not doing Biology, ntal! You obviously prefer a harder challenge to your intellect!

Doesn't depend on examiner at all! The parameters are strict and meticulous. It is clear what points are acceptable and what are not. Examiners cannot choose what to award marks for and what not. The Mark Schemes are clear.

Best subject on the curriculum. Our school is a kip and we can only do one or the other.

    23. avatar image

      A.B123

The examiners are illiberal when marking the papers. The schemes are put in place I agree it is up to the examiner on the day to grade the paper.it is why recheck are an option. you are overlooking too many factors bridge u may be very lazy in your approach but don't hinder any other students chances.

      A.B123

Ntal you should have moved to a better school like mine

    25. avatar image

      NowTheresALad

Well spank my arse and call me Jenny, I thought the marking schemes were only a myth
