Hi I have two questions, one regarding Hamlet and the other regarding Emma. If anyone could help I would be delighted.
Hamlet Q: Look at the last mine in Act 2 Scene 2 "The play's the thing/ Wherein I'll catch the conscience of the king." Revenge is a key theme in Hamlet, discuss.
Emma Q: How does Jane Austen introduce us to the key characters. Things to use; characters own words and actions, views of others, comments by the author/narrator.
jane Austin is so sound isn't she!!!!
ju not think?
For the hamlet question mention the ghosts visit and the fact that he is questioning if the ghost is the devil. Is this because he is looking to procrastinate or is he genuinely unsure? Question if he will actually take revenge? In the scene with the ghost he seems to have found purpose in revenge when he says: "O cursed spite that ever i was born to set it right". Say why you think he procrastinates. He could be playing one big game of chess and is making moves that only he can see sense in. Or he could have all his renaissance prince values (religion, morals etc.). *Spoiler alert here: The plan with the play actually fails and Claudius does not react but he is still going on as if it does. Maybe he just is waiting for a way to justify killing Claudius other than filial loyalty. Thats all I can really think of off the top of my head I'm afraid.
This is a really good site i found. We have to prepare an answer on revenge and the world of Denmark and this site is really helpful for answers. The free stuff is limited but i still think its good.
