i was given a question this weekend on the causes and impacts of industrial decline with reference to any region that i would have studies. i have been looking for answers all over the internet for this but cannot find a good one. any help out there would be greatly appreciated
I find that the new edition of today's world has excellent notes!
Are you doing industrial decline on Nord or the Sambre-muse?
For example I did Nord for my case study.
the reasons for industrial decline are as follows:
1. the industries of coal, steel and textiles seriously declined after world war 2
2. The coal industry declined because of the importance of oil and gas. They were used a lot more.
3. the textile industry declined because of the competition in the far east e.g. Asia.. they were a lot cheaper
4. steel industry declined due to foreign competition.
its impacts would be:
high unemployment rates
by the 1990's the region was a brownfield site or a rust belt with derelict factories.
could you tell me what year this question is??
thanks and hope this helps!!
