anyone know how to find k in 2013 Q9a please!? i dont understand where theyre getting the figures for after you do the 2 pythagoras' theorem... :(

work with the three triangles , the two smaller ones and the triangle overall.
get the hypotheneuses of the two smaller triangles in terms of x, then sub these expressions into a pythagorian formula for the overall triangle.
