Hey, I'm in 6th year doing music and I want to go on to do music in College. My music teacher doesn't really cover much theory with us though.
I'm wondering if anyone could help me out with the difference between a harmonic and a melodic minor and what exactly do you do with the 7th in each case??
Harmonic is flattening the third and sixth (in the key signature), and the 7th is raised.
Melodic (as far as I know) the third is flattened on the way up and down, and 6 and 7 are raised on the way up but flattened on the way down. E.g. C melodic minor would be C D E(flat) F G A B C B(flat) A(flat) G F E(flat) D C
