Hi everyone , perhaps a bit of an off topic post here but am just looking for some information.
I am a 19 year old post Leaving Cert student and I sat my Leaving Cert last year. However , due to being badly ill for 4 out of my 5 years in secondary school I was unable to achieve anywhere near my potential. I recently decided to repeat the Leaving this September but having to watch my friends head away to college when I had not got enough points to do any course has caused me an awful lot of upset and anger over the past year. With this in mind , I wonder does anyone know of anyone I could speak to to express my concern as , like explained above , my illness hindered my progression in school? I am aware of a scheme called DARE , disability access route to education , which allows eligible students to have the points of their chosen course reduced by 40 points but the points I received were only one sixth of the required points for my course. Also , I am unsure if one year will be enough for me to get the points needed and I am angry at the fact that I have to go back to school when I should be going into my second year of college. I have considered writing to the Minister For Education but would like some opinions before I write to him.
Thanks a million in advance
