Applied maths outside of school?

I am going into 5th year next year and want to do applied maths but my school isn't holding an applied maths class this year. I am thinking of taking it as an extra (8th) subject outside of school. I know the course is changing and there is going to be a project and more topics. I want to do as many maths subjects as possible to maximise points. But would this be too much especially with a project. I have no idea what to do?

8 does seem like alot but i could be wrong, are you not good at a core subject English, irish and you are taking it to bring up your points as you know you wont get high points if so yeah it does seem like a pretty good plan if you sort of get rid of 1 subject that ur not good at to do ap math instead to get the points. have a check at past papers to see what's on the course as for ap maths there is 10 questions and you only have to answer 6 so most people only learn off 7 topics. In my opinion i think ap maths is a good option as long as u level out the workload of 8 subjects :)

I did 8. I did applied maths outside of school. If you like the subject, which if you like maths you will, then it doesn't feel like that much extra work. I would recommend it. It helps with your other subjects, such as maths and physics, and also as you said it is a good idea for points

make sure you get a decent teacher to help you with the subject, because if youre struggling with certain aspects, the marking schemes skip a lot of steps so they arent really helpful
