@CDML, don't trust me on this cause I'm not 100%, but from what I've heard I think you can resit the HPAT after 1st year of biomed in NUIG and if you do well enough you can transfer to medicine. And in relation to the employement thing - I'm not sure what employment Isabelle was referring to (hospital lab scientist or research scientist) but neither NUIG or Trinity are accredited to train you to work in a hospital lab straight after your degree. NUIG is more researched based than hands-on, where you can specialise in anatomy and physiology etc. If you want to work in a hospital lab (haematology, pathology, clinical chemistry etc) the only courses accredited by the Academy of Clinical Science and Laboratory Medicine (ACLSM) are: TUD, DIT, GMIT, UCC, and maybe one other I'm unsure of. And from what I know, these 4 colleges accredit you to be a lab scientist in both Ireland and the UK. Hope this helps.
