I did this. I really recommend it. it easy to get a grasp of it obviously if you study. If you are doing Biology or business it makes it easier

Currently in sixth year and I really enjoy it. Lots of learning but its quite easy to understand. Most difficult part in my opionion is the food science section [chemical composition of food} but its not too bad.

home ec is easy to pick up if you put in effort, one of my friends tried doing this but didnt put in effort into studying and ended up dropping it after a month. but i enjoy it, its just content heavy

its easier if youve done it for the junior cert as its the exact same but with more detail but its easy enough

Yeah I would really reccommend it , there is a lot of content but it is all very interessing which makes it more enjoyable to study and its split into nutrition, biology , business , sociology and you can focus on what you like best

I would recommend studying Home Economics for the Leaving Cert it is important to put the effort into the subject and to put the effort into the Food studies coursework journal as it is worth 20% of the overall grade. If you would like a head start for leaving cert Home Economics during the summer send me an email to christinelowry83@gmail.com. If you are planning to opt Biology or chemistry it links into the food studies chapters. If you are planning to do art it does link into the Home design elective. If you plan on doing History, Geography or Politics and Society the social studies section overlaps with content in those subjects.

I'm in 6th year and I do home ec, biology and business. It's great because they all link in together, for example, the microbiology chapter is in both home ec and biology, and consumer studies is in both business and home ec. That's means that there is less for me to learn off. Overall, its not too hard and quite easy to pick up marks. I'd 100% recommend. At the same time, if you're really not interested in home ec, some chapters can be quite boring.

I'm in sixth year and have never done home ec before. It was difficult for me in the beginning because of how theory heavy it was, however it is very doable. As long as you're interested in the subject it is enough to make you want to study it :) It overlaps well with biology too, so you should definitely consider taking Home Ec for the LC if you're considering taking biology. Hope this helped :)

Im am planning to do home ec as I was really good at it in jc and would do it instead of chemistry. Would be at a disadvantage
