If you're guranteed a really good and reliable teacher then I'd say definitely go for it but if the teacher will be anyway bad, stay clear of it. You also only get to cook 4 times total over the entire course so if you're thinking of keeping it on for the cooking aspect it really isn't worh it
im doing it in 5th year I get good grades 100% usually in-class test... do I like the subject? not at all.... would I swap? yes.... its just not something I like to revise so much to learn and i honestly feel like something like biology is much easier and manageable than this
i love it and i do well in it but i only get h1's because i study for it, it needs effort and time but so does every subject in leaving cert, if you liked it in junior cert then you would like it in leaving cert. I would say if u have a bad teacher than you will have to put in a lot more effort but if u have a good teacher than you should be ok
@Roisincahill908 if you would like and want to get a head start on Leaving Cert Home Economics during the summer before you start 5th year I would be more than happy to do so. I will talk to you about what topics I learned at the start of 5th year and I would be happy to help you to get a head start. Send me an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you are planning on doing Biology having Home Economics is very useful as many Biology topics overlap with a couple of topics on the Home Economics curriculum with the food studies section and some Chemistry topics overlap with the food studies section. The social studies section does overlap with the Geography curriculum, Politics and Society curriculum and the History curriculum.
