Mathematics
This subject is very varied so a good understanding of all of the parts of the course is key!
Remember in the exam that attempt marks are given for any step in the right direction, so attempt every part of the questions you do and make sure to show all your workings.
As the Project Maths course is relativily recent there are only a limited number of past papers available. Many of the Project Maths papers released are sample papers or pilot school papers and therefore marking schemes are not always available.

Exam
The final exam is worth 90% of overall marks. Students may take the exam at Higher or Ordinary level. The paper is 2 hours long.
Classroom-Based Assessments
Students must complete 2 CBA's. CBA 1 is titled 'Mathematical Investigation & Report' and CBA 2 is titled 'Statistical Investigation & Report'. For CBA 1, students will follow the Problem Solving Cycle to investigate a mathematical problem. For CBA 2, students will follow the Statistical enquiry cycle to explore and anaylse data using appropriate displays and numerical summaries.
Assessment Task
This is a written task based on CBA 2 and is worth 10% of overall marks.
Any tips for doing well in Junior Cycle Maths?
Practice, practice, practice. Of all subjects, Maths is the one you need to constantly be practicing to do well. Pick a topic, study it, print out some questions, try them and check your answer against the marking scheme. Pay attention to the details and try to avoid basic errors. Make sure you know how to use your calculator and always show your workings in answers as attempt marks will often pass you a question.

Mathematical skills are useful for career sectors such as Accountancy, Banking, Financial Services, Physics and Space Science.
