What's involved?

A good understanding of the different parts of the course is key as this curriculum covers various concepts and ideas. Due to the density of the course material, attempt marks are given for any step in the right direction so always be sure to attempt every part of the questions you do and make sure to show all of your workings.

Exam structure

The exam can be broken down into three parts:

The written exam

The final exam is worth 90% of the overall grade and is 2 hours long. Students may take the exam at higher or ordinary level.

CBAs

Students must complete 2 Classroom-Based Assessments (CBAs):

  • CBA 1 (Mathematical Investigation and Report) is where students will follow the problem-solving cycle to investigate a mathematical problem.
  • CBA 2 (Statistical Investigation and Report) is where students follow the statistical enquiry cycle to explore and analyse data using appropriate displays and numerical summaries.
The Assessment Task

This is a written task based on CBA 2 and is worth 10% of the overall grade.

The final exam is worth 90% of the overall grade and is 2 hours long. Students may take the exam at higher or ordinary level.
