Pictiúr 1

Sa phictiúr seo, feicimid Síle in oifig an Máistir Ó Ceallaigh, an comhairleoir gairmthreorach.
In this picture, we see Síle in the guidance counsellor’s office.

Tá siad ag plé cúrsaí ollscoile.
They are discussing university courses.

Tá suim ag Síle sa cheimic agus tá sí ag lorg eolais maidir le cúrsa amháin i nGaillimh.
Síle’s interested in chemistry and she’s looking for information regarding a course in Galway.

Dar leis an Uasal Ó Murchú, ní mór di obair dhian a dhéanamh toisc go bhfuil ceithre chéad pointe ag teastáil uaithi chun an cúrsa a fháil.
According to Mr Ó Murchú, she must work hard as she needs 400 points to get the course.

Pictiúr 2

I bpictiúr a dó, feicimid Síle agus Áine i gclós na scoile.
In picture 2, we see Síle and Áine in the schoolyard.

Taobh thiar díobh, tá beirt bhuachaill ag imirt cispheile.
Behind them, there are 2 boys playing basketball.

Tugann Áine cuireadh do Shíle dul chuig an dioscó an oíche sin ach níl fonn ar Shíle dul ann toisc go bhfuil an iomarca obair bhaile aici.
Áine invites Síle to go to the disco that night but Síle doesn’t want to go as she has too much homework.

Pictiúr 3

I bpictiúr a trí, faigheann Síle glaoch óna cara Seán.
In picture 3, Sile gets a call from her friend Seán.

Iarrann sé uirthi dul go dtí an phictiúrlann an oíche sin.
He asks her if she’d like to go to the cinema that night.

Dar leis, tá scannán iontach ar siúl sa Savoy, ag tosú ar a hocht a chlog.
According to him, there’s a great film on in the Savoy, starting at 8.

Deir Síle go bhfuil brón uirthi ach ní feidir leí dul toisc go bhfuil aiste le scríobh aici.
Síle says she’s sorry but she can’t go as she has an essay to write.

Pictiúr 4

Sa phictiúr seo, feicimid Síle ag staidéar ina seomra codlata. Is léir go bhfuil sí ag obair go dian dícheallach.
In this picture, we see Síle studying in her bedroom. It’s clear that she’s working really hard.

Ansin, feicimid tuismitheoirí Shíle ag ól cupáin tae sa chistin.
Then, we see her parents having a cup of tea in the kitchen.

Deir athair Shíle go bhfuil sé buartha fuithi. Dar leis, tá sos ag teastáil uaithi ón staidéar agus ba chóir di dul amach san aer úr.
Her father says he’s worried about her. According to him, she needs a break and she should go out into the fresh air.

Dar lena máthair is cailín ciallmhar í Síle agus tá a fhios aici cad atá ar siúl aici. Is féidir léi dul amach ag an deireadh seachtaine agus níl ach cúpla mí fágtha go dtí na scrúdaithe.
Her mother reckons she’s a clever girl and she knows what she’s doing. She can go out at the weekends and there are only a few months left until the exams.

Pictiúr 5

Lá na dtorthaí atá ann.
It’s results day.

Tá ceithre chéad caoga pointe gnóthaithe ag Síle agus tá gliondar an domhain uirthi leí féin.
She’s achieved 450 points and she’s delighted with herself.

Molann clann Shíle í go hard na spéire.
Her family praise her to the heights.

Dar le hÁine, tá a rath tuillte aici toisc go ndearna sí sár-iarracht i rith na bliana.
According to Áine, she deserves her success as she worked so hard during the year.

Pictiúr 6

I bpictiúr a sé, tá Síle i mbun clárúcháin dá cúrsa eolaíochta in ollscoil na hÉireann, Gaillimh.
In picture 6, Síle is registering for her chemistry course in NUIG.

Ba bhóthar fada é di ach tá Síle iontach sásta go bhfuil sí anois ag a ceann scríbe.
It was a long road but she’s really happy that she has arrived at her destination.
