In picture one, assembly is underway in Coláiste Eoin.

The topic the principal is discussing with the students is the annual school tour.

Tá roinnt moltaí ag na daltaí – turas go Páras, turas go dtí an Róimh
nó b’fhéidir turas sciála um Nollaig ina measc.

The students have a few suggestions – a trip to Paris / Rome or a ski trip at Christmas.

Meabhraíonn an príomhoide dóibh áfach go bhfuil sé iontach

The principal reminds them however that it’s very costly to go abroad.

Because of the Economic recession, they decide to stay in Ireland and go to an adventure centre.

It’s not long until the students are at their destination – Connemara Adventure Centre.

The girls’ accommodation is on one side of the yard and the boys are staying on the other side.

There are two teachers with them to keep a close eye on them of course.

Tá gach éinne ag súil le clár maith imeachtaí.

Everyone is looking forward to a good programme of events.

A wide range of outdoor activities are provided for the students – cycling, surfing, kayaking, orienteering, rock climbing and athletics.

It goes without saying that they won’t have a free minute!

Sa phictiúr seo, tá cúrsa treodóireachta á dhéanamh ag na daltaí.

The students are doing an orienteering course.

One poor boy has to walk through the freezing water as part of the course.

Feicimid na daltaí eile ag screadaíl in ard a gceann is a nguthanna, ag tabhairt tacaíochta dó.

We see the other students screaming at the top of their voices, giving him support.

San oíche, bailíonn na daltaí le chéile le ceol a sheinm agus le craic a bheith acu.

At nighttime, the students gather together for some music and fun.

Tá giotár ag buachaill amháin agus neart amhrán ina chnuasach aige.

One boy has a guitar and a big collection of songs.

Tá cailín eile ar an mbodhrán agus cé go bhfuil siad go léir spíonta caite, canann siad na hamhráin go léir le chéile.

Another girl is on the bodhrán and even though they’re wrecked tired, they sing all the songs together.

Is iontach an deis í a scíth a ligean!

It's a wonderful opportunity to relax!

Sa phictiúr deireanach, cuireann príomhoide na scoile fáilte chroíúil roimh na daltaí ar a dteacht abhaile dóibh.

In the final picture, the principal warmly welcomes back the students on their return home.

Deir siad leis gur bhain siad taitneamh agus tairbhe as an turas agus go bhfuil siad traochta anois!

They tell him they hugely enjoyed the trip and that they’re exhausted now!

Gabhann siad buíochas leis na múinteoirí a d’eagraigh an turas, ag rá leo go raibh sé i bhfad níos fearr ná turas go Páras!

They thank the teachers who organised the trip, telling them that it was far better than a trip to Paris!
