Leaving Cert Technology is all about using the design process to work through a task or problem to reach a solution. Here is everything you need to know about how Studyclix can make your studying easier.
Students do not need to take technology at Junior Cycle to qualify for this course. It would, however, be an advantage if students studied either tech drawing, wood technology or technology.
For the Leaving Cert, there are two parts to the technology course: the coursework (50%) and the written exam (50%). Here's a breakdown:
Students must design and produce an artefact and a folder to accompany it. A brief for this coursework is issued to schools each year by the SEC.
Both levels have one examination paper. The ordinary-level paper is 2 hours and the higher-level paper is 2.5 hours. The paper will contain Sections A (core topics) and B (five options).
