Bloody Sunday
Sunday January 30, 1972, Was A Landmark Date In The History Of Northern Ireland'S Londonderry, Better Known To Locals As "Derry, And The Struggle For Civil Rights In The Region. Scenes Of Violence And Civil Unrest Were Not Uncommon, But On This Sunday A Peaceful March Turned Into A Bloody Massacre. British Soldiers Instigated The Violence; Sending People Diving For Cover As They Stormed The Streets. Armed With High-Powered Military Weapons They Opened Fire On Civilians Men, Women And Children Alike. Fourteen Male Civilians Were Killed; Of These, Seven Were Teenagers. The Day Became Known As "Bloody Sunday" And Has Since Been Immortalised In Film And Song, Lest We Forget.
