Pictiúr 1

I bpictiúr a haon, tá cluiche iománaíochta faoi lán seoil idir Scoil
Chaitríona agus Coláiste Eoin.

There’s a hurling match underway/in full swing between Scoil Chaitríona and Coláiste Eoin

Tá slua ollmhór i láthair agus iad go léir ag baint taitnimh as an
gcluiche.

There’s a huge crowd present and they’re all enjoying the match

Ag an bpointe seo, tá an lámh in uachtar ag Scoil Chaitríona agus tá
siad dhá chúilín chun tosaigh ar an bhfoireann eile.

At this point. Scoil Chaitríona have the upper hand and they’re leading the other team by two points

Tá geansaithe, brístí gearra agus clogaid á gcaitheamh ag na
himreoirí.

The players are wearing jersies, shorts and helmets

Pictiúr 2

Ansin, feicimid Seán agus é sínte amach ar fhleasc a dhroime.

Then, we see Seán and him stretched out on the broad of his back

Is léir go bhfuil sé gortaithe go dona.

It’s clear that he’s badly injured

Tá an chosúlacht ar an scéal go bhfuil a chos briste.

It looks like his leg is broken

Ritheann beirt mhaor amach ar an bpáirc ón dtaobhlíne le sínteán.

Two stewards run on to the pitch from the sideline with a stretcher

Ritheann a bhainisteoir chuige chomh maith agus cuireann an réiteoir stop leis an imirt.

His manager also runs to him and the referee puts a halt to the play

Pictiúr 3

Tagann na seirbhisí éigeandála agus tugtar Seán chuig an Roinn Timpiste agus Éigeandála gan mhoill.

The emergency services arrive and Seán is brought to A&E without delay

Gan dabht, tá sé in umar na haimléise.

Without doubt, he’s in a bad way

Tá beirt othar eile sa seomra feithimh roimhe agus iad ag fanacht le
dochtúir.

There are 2 other patients in the waiting room before him, waiting for a doctor

Tá lámh gortaithe ag duine amháin acu agus cos gortaithe ag an
duine eile is cosúil.

One of them has an injured hand and the other, an injured foot, it seems

Tá sé a trí a chlog faoin am seo.

It’s 3 o clock by now

Pictiúr 4

Anois, tá sé a cúig a chlog agus níor tháinig aon dochtúir go fóill.

It’s five o’clock and no doctor has arrived yet

Ní mó ná sásta atá bainisteoir Sheáin agus déanann sé gearán faoi seo leis an mbanaltra.

Seán’s manager isn’t too happy and he complains about this to the nurse

Tá drochbhail ar Sheán bocht fós.

Poor Seán still looks in a bad way

Pictiúr 5

I bpictiúr a cúig, feicimid Seán i mbun comhrá leis an dochtúir.

We see Seán chatting to the doctor

Taispeánann an dochtúir x-gha de chos Sheáin dó.

The doctor shows Seán an x-ray of his leg

Dar leis an dochtúir, tá a chos briste go dona agus faraor, beidh ar Sheán sos fada a ghlacadh ón iománaíocht.

According to the doctor, his leg is badly broken and Seán will have to take a long break from the hurling

Tá Seán croíbhriste faoi seo.

Seán’s heartbroken about this

Pictiúr 6

Tá Seán bocht ag seisiún traenála agus cuma bhrónach air.

Seán is at a training session and looking sad

Beidh air cúig mhí a chaitheamh ar an taobhlíne go dtí go dtagann
biseach air.

He’ll have to spend 5 months on the sideline until he’s better

Cad a dhéanfaidh sé lena chuid ama? B’fhéidir go bhfoghlaimeoidh sé conas ficheall a imirt. An créatúr!

What will he do with his time? Maybe he’ll learn how to play chess. The poor guy!
