The assessment is made up of two components:
<ul>
<li>an end-of-course computer-based examination (70%)</li>
<li>coursework (30%)</li>
</ul>
The Exam
The exam will access core concepts and the practices of computer science and may require students to combine knowledge from several topics of the syllabus. There are three sections, A, B and C. Section A consists of short answer questions and students must answer 6. Section B consists of long questions and students must answer one. Section C consist of one programming question. Sections A and B make up a one-and-a-half hour exam paper and Section C is assessed separately in a separate one hour paper.
The Coursework
This coursework will be carried out individually. The SEC will release a brief, and students must generate a computational artefact in response to this brief. This will be done over a period of 6-8 weeks in 6th year.
