Notes on Sraith Pictiúr 8: Comhoibriú an Phobail
Read and listen to our H1 standard notes on Sraith Pictiúr 'Comhoibriú an Phobail' below:
I bpictiúr a haon feicimid beirt chailín i dteannta a chéile ar shráid truallaithe.
In picture 1, we see 2 girls standing together on a polluted street
Tá an áit bun ós cionn – tá na boscaí bruscair ag cur thar maoil agus tá bruscar caite ar fud na háite.
The place is a mess – the bins are overflowing and there is litter thrown everywhere
Deir Máire go bhfuil cuma dhéistineach ar an sráid, agus aontaíonn Siobhán léi. Caithfear feabhas a chur ar chuma na háite gan dabht.
Máire says that the street looks disgusting, and Siobhán agrees with her. The look of the place needs to be improved, without a doubt
Pictiúr 2
An lá dár gcionn, eagraíonn Máire cruinniú le comhairle an phobail chun an fhadhb a phlé.
The next day, Máire organizes a meeting with the council to discuss the problem
Cuireann sí béim ar thábhacht na timpeallachta agus na dualgais atá acu mar shaoránaigh. Eagraíonn siad glantachán poiblí don deireadh seachtaine.
She emphasizes the importance of the environment and the responsibility that they have as citizens. They organize a public clean-up for the weekend
Fadhb eile a thagann chun solais ná saol sóisialta an bhaile. Tá easpa acmhainní ina cnámh spairne.
Another problem that comes to light is the social life in the town. The lack of resources is a bone of contention
Pictiúr 3
I bpictiúr a trí, feicimid an glantachán faoi lán seoil. Tá cuma i bhfad Éireann níos fearr ar an áit ina dhiaidh.
In picture 3, we see the clean-up underway. The place looks a lot better afterwards
Bailíonn na hoibrithe deonacha an bruscar ar fad i málaí móra dubha. Tá bibeanna lonracha orthu.
The volunteers collect all of the rubbish in big black bags. They have high-vis vests on
Ba bheag nach raibh muintir na háite in ann an tsráid a aithint! Mar a deir an seanfhocal, ní neart go cur le chéile.
The people almost didn’t recognize the place! As the saying goes, many hands make light work
Pictiúr 4
Chomh maith leis an nglantachán, cuirtear béim ar thimpeallacht sóisialta an bhaile.
As well as the clean-up, an emphasis is put on the social environment of the town
Gach Luan cuirtear ceolchoirm bheag ar siúl i gcomhair seanóirí an bhaile mar shiamsaíocht. Glacann amhránaí páirt ann go deonach. Baineann an lucht féachana an-sult as.
Every Monday a small concert is put on for the elderly people in town as entertainment. Musicians take part voluntarily. The audience really enjoys it
Uair in aghaidh na míosa bíonn cruinniú maidir le "Pobal ar Aire“. Labhraíonn Gardaí faoi na fadhbanna sa cheantar agus bíonn deis ag an bpobal ceisteanna a chur. Bíonn slua mór ann de shíor.
Once a month there is a meeting regarding the new ‘Neighbourhood watch’ system. Gardaí bring up any issues in the area and the public are given a chance to ask questions. There is always a large crowd there
Pictiúr 5
I bpictiúr a cúig, feicimid roinnt ranganna oíche éagsúla a reachtálann halla an phobail.
In picture 5, we see some night classes which the town hall organises
Bíonn ranganna cócaireachta, ranganna ríomhaireachta agus fiú ranganna garraíodóireachta ar siúl. Is áis iontach í.
There are cooking classes, computer classes and even gardening classes on. It’s an excellent facility
Is léir go bhfuil éileamh ar na ranganna seo mar freastalaíonn idir fhir agus mhná orthu.
It’s clear that there is demand for these classes, as both men and women attend them
Ag deireadh an lae, is maith le daoine a scíth a ligint agus scileanna nua a fhoghlaim, chomh maith le cairde nua a dhéanamh.
At the end of the day, people enjoy relaxing and learning new skills as well as making new friends
Pictiúr 6
Sa phictiúr deireanach, bronntar seic ar luach dhá mhíle cúig chéad euro ar an mbaile as ucht an dul chun cinn atá déanta acu le déanaí.
In the last picture, the town is awarded a cheque to the value of two thousand five hundred euro for their recent improvement
Is mór an onóir é seo, agus is cinnte go bhfuil a rath tuillte acu. Freisin bronntar corn orthu leis an inscríbhínn ‘An baile beag is mó feabhas’ air.
This is a great honour, and it is certain that they have earned their success. They are also awarded with a trophy with the inscription ‘most improved small town’ on it
Déanann na heagrathóirí comhghairdeas leo, agus molann siad dóibh leanúint ar aghaidh lena gcuid oibre. Tús maith, leath na hoibre!
The organisers congratulate them and advise them to keep up the good work. A good start is half the work!
