Physical Education - Ordinary
This new course was introduced in 2018 and examined first in 2020.
LC Physical Education is currently only available to Leaving Certificate students in phase schools. This means that examination in this subject will be limited to students of the phase schools at the 2020 and 2021 Leaving Certificate examinations.

How is PE Assessed?
The PE Exam consists of three parts
- Physical Activity Project (20%)
- Performance assessment (30%)
- Written exam (50%)
Physical Activity Project
Students choose an activity and complete the project in either the role as a performer or a coach/choreographer, over an approximately 2 month period. The project is completed in a digital format using the following headings: Performance analysis, Identification of four performance goals, Evidence of ongoing training/practice and reflection, and Concluding analysis.
Performance assessment
Students choose one of three selected activities that is being studied by their class. The student must capture their performance of this activity digitally.
The Exam
Both Ordinary and Higher level students sit a written paper in June each year which counts for 50% of their overall grade
