Notes
Pictiúr 1
Sa phictiúr seo, feicimid Seán taobh amuigh den ionad tástála agus is léir go bhfuil sé ar tí a scrúdú tiomána a dhéanamh.
We see Seán outside the test centre and it’s clear that he’s about to do his driving test.
Tá a athair in éineacht leis agus guíonn sé ádh mór air.
His father is along with him and he wishes him good luck.
Tá cuma neirbhíseach ar Shéan bocht, ní call a rá.
Poor Sean looks nervous, it goes without saying.
Pictiúr 2
Sa phictiúr seo, tá an scrúdú faoi lán seoil.
The test is underway.
I dtús báire, cuireann an scrúdaitheoir cúpla ceist ar Shéan faoi rialacha an bhóthair.
Firstly, the examiner asks Seán a couple of questions about the rules of the road.
Ansin, ar aghaidh leo sa ghluaisteán agus feicimid Seán taobh thiar den roth stiúrtha agus an scrúdaitheoir in aice leis.
Then, away with them in the car and we see Seán behind the steering wheel and the examiner beside him.
Pictiúr 3
I bpictiúr a trí, is léir nach bhfuil Seán ag tabhairt a dhóthain aire don bhóthar nuair a bheannaíonn sé dá chairde atá ag siúl thar bráid.
It’s clear that Seán is not paying enough attention to the road when he greets his friends who are going past.
Ní mó ná sásta atá an scrúdaitheoir le hiompar Sheáin.
The examiner isn’t too happy with Seán's behaviour.
Tá an scéim mharcála ina lámha aige.
He has the marking scheme in his hands.
Pictiúr 4
I bpreabadh na súl, buaileann gluaisteán Sheáin an gluaisteán atá os a chomhair.
In the blink of an eye, Seán’s car hits the car in front of him.
Baintear geit uafásach as tiománaí an ghluaisteáin eile chomh maith le Seán, an scrúdaitheoir agus na daoine eile i láthair.
The driver of the other car gets a terrible fright as does Seán, the examiner and the other people present.
Tá praiseach cheart déanta ag Seán den scrúdú – an t-amadán!
Seán has made a total mess of the exam – the eejit!
Pictiúr 5
Sa phictiúr seo, cuireann an tiománaí eile fios ar na Gardaí agus tagann Garda gan mhoill.
The other driver calls the Gardaí and a Garda turns up without delay.
Tá cúlsolas a ghluaisteáin briste ach buíochas le Dia, níl aon damáiste dáiríre déanta.
The backlight of his car is broken but thank God, there’s no serious damage done.
Míníonn an scrúdaitheoir don tiománaí go raibh a scrúdú ar bun ag Seán nuair a tharla an timpiste.
The examiner explains to the driver that Seán was doing his test when the accident happened.
Tá cuma fheargach ar an tiománaí eile fós ach tairgeann Seán íoc as an damáiste.
The other driver still looks mad but Seán offers to pay for the damage.
Pictiúr 6
Sa phictiúr deireanach tá Seán agus an scrúdaitheoir ar ais san ionad tástála.
Seán and the examiner are back in the test centre.
Deir an scrúdaitheoir leis go mbeidh seans eile aige an scrudú a dhéanamh i gceann cúpla seachtain.
The examiner tells him that he’ll have another chance to do the exam in a couple of weeks.
Molann sé do Sheán tuilleadh cleachtadh a dhéanamh agus, dár ndóigh, níos mó aire a thabhairt as seo amach.
He advises Seán to practice more and, of course, to take more care from now on.
